An Apple Crawl Through Our Local Eats

September in Kingsville means one thing: apple season is officially here.

From drinks to desserts (even sandwiches and sausages!), our local businesses are rolling out creative, cozy, and downright delicious ways to celebrate this iconic fruit.

I’ve been making my way through town on what I like to call an apple crawl, tasting, sipping, and sharing the very best apple creations Kingsville has to offer.

Here’s a peek at the incredible stops so far:

Cindy’s Home & Garden – Deli + Café

  • Spiced Apple Moscow Mule — If you love ginger beer, this one’s for you. Crisp, slightly fizzy, with that warming spice that pairs so well with apple.

  • St. Jacob’s Apple Pie Milkshake — My personal favourite apple drink this year. Imagine a slice of apple pie thrown in the blender with creamy vanilla ice cream — thick, sweet, and topped with whipped cream, cinnamon, and an apple slice. I couldn’t stop sipping. Dessert in a cup at its finest.

  • Tish’ Fancy Sandwich — Served on marble bread (sourdough is also a popular choice), this stack layers in chicken, apple slices, grapes, and pecans.

Mastronardi Estate Winery

Wine lovers, this one’s for you.

This one is known to be a summer wine, but I had to include this stop because their Apple Wine & Cider feels like fall in a glass. Sweet, crisp, and so easy to sip on. I enjoyed mine on the patio while the sun was still shining, and it struck that perfect balance between summery lightness and autumn coziness.

  • Apple Caramel Cheesecake Donut (Top donut in photo)— Hands down, my top pick. It’s stuffed with creamy cheesecake filling, then topped with warm cinnamon apples and a caramel drizzle that ties it all together. Sweet, indulgent, and worth every bite.

  • Venetian Cream Apple Crumble Donut — A pillowy donut that somehow manages to taste light while being filled with rich cream. The apple crumble topping gave it a cozy, homemade feel.

  • Classic Apple Turnover — Exactly what you want from a turnover — golden, flaky pastry that flakes apart, with sweet, tender apple filling. Comfort food at its finest.

📍100 County Road 34 West, Cottam

The Butcher of Kingsville

We love visiting our local butcher for all of our protein and specialty cheese cravings. This spot is all about quality meats, homemade burgers and sausages. For September, their Apple Bacon Sausage was a must-try.

We grilled ours at home, and WOW! The sweet pop of apple was such a unique pairing.

Perfect if you’re looking to mix up your BBQ routine.

Miller's Bakery

  • Apple Scone with Glaze (As seen in the photo)— Buttery, soft, and lightly glazed — sweet but not overpowering. Great with coffee.

  • Apple Crisp (two sizes!) — I love that they offer both shareable and solo portions. The apples were thinly sliced, with lots of layers.

  • Saturday Apple Strudel — The pastry was flaky on top, a little crunchy on the bottom, and packed with filling. Keep in mind this is a Saturday Special only!

  • Apple Danish — For croissant fans, this is a must. Golden, flaky pastry topped with a cinnamon-apple mix that I could eat by the spoonful.

📍21 Chestnut Street, Kingsville

La Dulce Vida

If you’re a latte lover, Dulce Vida has you covered with apple-inspired drinks.

  • Caramel Apple Matcha Latte — Matcha’s earthiness with crisp apple flavour made it perfect for a warm fall day.

  • Apple Crumble Chai Latte (As seen in the photo) — My chai-loving heart was happy with this one. Warm spices, creamy chai, finished with a dusting of cinnamon. It felt like fall in a cup.

The Goose Kitchen & Bar

Known for their Canadian Club Sandwich, this one is an everyday meny classic.

I ordered mine with crispy chicken (though grilled is also an option), wrapped in warm naan bread. The thinly sliced green apples added a sweet crunch that totally brightened up the savoury chicken and maple pepper smoked bacon. Served with cheddar and maple cider mayo, it’s comfort food with a juicy surprise in every bite.

Red Lantern Coffee Co.

  • Steamed Hot Apple Cider with Cinnamon Warm, fragrant, and very sweet. Exactly what you want to sip when the air gets crisp.

  • Apple Turnover This one happily surprised me. It wasn’t dry at all (as turnovers can sometimes be). The pastry was flaky, and the filling was juicy and flavourful. A classic treat, done really well.

📍4 Main Street West, Kingsville

Mari's Artisan Gelato

Mari never misses when it comes to homemade gelato, and their Caramel Apple Gelato is proof.

Smooth, creamy, and perfectly balanced between the apple flavours and sweet caramel.

Not too heavy, not too sweet — just right. Honestly, I could have gone for a second scoop.

I would highly recommend trying this one before the season is gone.
