There’s something about cooking outdoors that makes food taste just a little more magical. Whether it’s the smoky flavour of a campfire meal or the joy of gathering around a BBQ with family and friends, meals just hit differently when prepared in nature. On our most recent summer stay at Lungovita Beach Resort in Harrow, Ontario, we had the perfect opportunity to experience both savoury BBQ dinners and cozy campfire creations. All while enjoying lakeside sunsets and the comfort of glamping done right.

The Resort: Nature Meets Comfort This wasn’t our first time at Lungovita, and it definitely won’t be our last. The resort offers temperature-controlled domes that make camping not just easy, but chic. Inside, you’ll find real beds with full bedding, a couch for lounging, and everything you need for a comfortable stay. Outside, each dome comes with its own private fire pit, picnic table, and seating area—the perfect setup for enjoying meals outdoors without giving up convenience.

You can even order wood bundles on-site, delivered right to your dome. It’s effortless, stress-free, and exactly how glamping should be.

BBQ Highlights: Functionality, Cleanliness, and Comfort

For our foodies out there, one of Lungovita’s standout features is its sheltered outdoor BBQ area—a space that exceeded our expectations in both design and upkeep.

  • Seven BBQ Stations: With multiple cooking stations, there’s no waiting around during peak meal times. Everyone has space to cook, making it ideal for groups.

  • Impressive Cleanliness: The grills are spotless. We were amazed to watch the staff fully dismantle and deep-clean each station in the morning. A level of care that didn’t go unnoticed.

  • Extra Amenities: From filtered water stations (yes, hot water for your morning tea!) to nearby picnic tables, garbage, recycling bins, and even an outdoor sink for quick cleanup, everything is thoughtfully placed.

We brought along our own utensils, cookware, and a cast iron skillet, which made meal prep a breeze. Our advice? If you think you’ll need it...bring it.

What We Cooked on the BBQ

  • Friday Dinner: Chicken skewers and steak paired with focaccia cheese bread and a Greek chickpea veggie salad.

  • Saturday Breakfast: Garlic cheddar croissant sandwiches filled with ham, eggs, and caramelized onion cheddar.

  • Sunday Breakfast: Mexican-style egg wraps with jalapeños, salsa, and cheddar, paired with fresh peaches and bananas.

Campfire Creations: Dessert First!

Each dome at Lungovita comes with its own private bonfire pit, and we put ours to good use. This trip, we decided to flip tradition and start with dessert first.

Using a cast iron sandwich maker, we stuffed biscuit dough with sweet fillings, cooked them over the fire, and ended up with golden, gooey perfection. (Pro tip: don’t forget the non-stick spray for the molds!) Next time, we’re planning to top them with whipped cream and fresh berries.

Dinner by the fire kept things simple but flavourful: locally made sausages, herb and cheese focaccia, and a crisp salad. It was the perfect way to close out the night while watching the sun sink into Lake Erie.

Why We Keep Coming Back

Every time we visit Lungovita, we leave feeling refreshed and recharged. The mix of nature, comfort, and thoughtful amenities makes it a stress-free escape, while the outdoor cooking opportunities keep it exciting and memorable.

For us, it’s the little things, clean grills, private fire pits, comfy bedding, and those unforgettable views, that keep drawing us back. Lungovita Beach Resort has completely redefined camping for us, blending the joy of the outdoors with the ease of modern comforts.

Until next time, Lungovita we’ll be back (and next time, we’re bringing even more toppings).
